Description
CompTIA PenTest+ is a certification for cybersecurity professionals tasked with penetration testing and vulnerability management. It validates the skills required to assess systems and applications, exploit vulnerabilities, report findings, and recommend remediation. PenTest+ covers both hands-on attack and penetration testing as well as management skills, making it ideal for roles in offensive security, red teaming, and threat analysis. The certification is developed by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), a global nonprofit organization founded in 1982 that promotes vendor-neutral training and certifications. CompTIA works with industry experts to create standards that reflect current job role demands.
The PenTest+ exam includes multiple-choice and performance-based questions. While there are no strict prerequisites, it is recommended that candidates have Network+ and Security+ certifications, or equivalent knowledge, plus 3–4 years of hands-on information security or penetration testing experience.
